After installing Windows XP, you may have noticed that Java applets have stopped working or old familiar websites look and act differently. Java applets are little programs installed by web designers that allow you to view special web components and affects. Many websites (including Western Idaho Internet) use Java enhanced pages. Look at this page to see a Java enabled page in action. Some of the JAVA enhancements that you might not be seeing are page navigation buttons or bars, picture effects and more. Here is another example of a Java page. With the Windows operating systems up to the XP operating system, Microsoft was installing Java Virtual Machine with their web browser. Now, because Microsoft and Sun Microsystems are feuding, it has to be downloaded and installed separately.
