Programs available to
filter your email for "junk mail". This one offers a free basic version and an affordable "premium"
version. While we do not provide
support for these program(s)*,
they both seem to work well and are easy to configure.
The pay version is advertised to catch around 90% of
junk mail sent to you. (You can add your own
filter rules on both versions for some of the junk mail that does get
through .) Both versions come with pre-installed known spam filters.
There are 2 versions. One free, one for
$24.95 (there is a 30 day free trial on the paid version before having
to purchase it) I have downloaded and tried
both. Both will eliminate junk mail before it gets to your
computer.
The biggest difference between the two
is:
-
the free version only works with ONE email address and doesn't offer all
of the spam filter options. It will eliminate at least some of the
junk mail
-
You have to "tell" the
free version when to check your mail each time prior to starting your email
program
-
the paid version will run in the
background, delete any junk mail sent to you, then notify you of
"good" email to read.
-
The free version appears to not keep
a copy of deleted messages, the pay version will archive deleted
messages so you can check if a "good" email got eliminated and
allow you to retrieve it.
The
pay version allows you to actively participate in stopping spam by reporting
spammers and POSSIBLY get their accounts cancelled!!
If you have more
than one email address on your computer, and want to stop the spam to all
accounts, you will need the $24.95 version.
There is very little to configure for
the free version. You simply add your mail server info then run it
before opening your email program..
NOTE: the free version comes as a .zip
file, you MAY have to download a program to open it. You can
get a free unzip program Here.
